At the December conference, Laura presented a view of the technologies that can help businesses address the true demands of the future, with regard to water: “New Technologies and Innovations in Water Efficiency”. She also spoke about the importance of national and state water policy in fostering competition for new solutions at the “Efficiency Innovations and Green Water Tech” panel. The session discussed new technology options for water efficiency, recycling, and re-use, how to move beyond the low hanging fruit, and how to develop an efficiency culture and profitable relationships with venture capitalists.
Action for a Sustainable America’s Corporate Water Footprinting Conference brought together a diverse group of corporations that spoke about the risks and opportunities water poses to business. Many of the presentations offered practical advice on mapping and reducing water consumption in products and across the supply chain. Case studies introduced new methodologies and standards for water footprinting.
Topics included corporate engagement on water policy, collective action on water issues, unravelling the water-energy nexus, the development of water policy and regulation, the growing interest of water to the investment community and corporate engagement with NGOs and activists on water issues.
